QUALITY EDUCATION WITH A DIFFERENCE

Selecting the right education is one of the most important decisions you can make in your child’s life.

Northumberland Christian School is an independent, interdenominational JK-12 school (grades 9 – 12 on Bowmanville campus) dedicated to excellence in education based on a Christian foundation. NCS’s high academic standards meet and often exceed Ministry of Education guidelines. Our qualified, committed teachers and small class sizes provide a stimulating and secure learning environment where your child will grow academically, socially and spiritually.

The Northumberland Christian School Difference
Christian Education: God's truths are taught throughout the entire curriculum and
students are enabled to understand the world through God's word.
Accountable Education: NCS is directly accountable to parents and members
who make up the Board and all committees. We view your child’s education as a partnership.
Individualized Education: Our small classes average 18 students, offering many
     opportunities for one-on-one instruction.

Our Program
We offer a full curriculum, from the Basics – Language Arts and Mathematics – to Social Studies, French (Grades K-8), Bible Studies, Computer/Technology, Music, Physical Education and Art. Our parent-run education committee meets monthly to review curriculum and resource materials.

Sports and Fitness
Physical education is an important part of our program. We make extensive use of our two soccer fields, basketball and volleyball courts and seven beautiful acres for cross-country running, track and field and other activities. Each winter we participate in a 10-week swim program at the Jack Burger Sports Complex. NCS competes in regional tournaments with other Christian schools.

Our Direction
Our unique approach to teaching encourages students to develop real-life thinking skills. Dynamic discussions and questioning are commonplace in NCS classrooms. Our day begins with a thoughtful time of reading, prayer and sharing experiences. From there, it’s off to the basics. Children are tested regularly, in a non-pressured atmosphere. NCS life is enriched by the many parent volunteers who provide extra support to students who need it or contribute to extracurricular activities like coaching or art.

More about us...
All NCS teachers hold an ‘Ontario Teacher’s Certificate’ and/or a ‘Christian School Teacher’s Certificate’. We belong to the ‘Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools’, a large network of over 450 Christian schools which provides a wealth of educational resources and support.
